Starting Horses

Steve's method of starting horses involves establishing a solid foundation of ground work and halter training which then leads through into work under saddle.

Incorporating the round pen to encourage freedom of movement lets the horse find the easier option. By reinforcing the correct attitude and movement, the horse is encouraged to find a comfortable way to learn. The young horse then becomes more receptive to further advanced training under saddle.

Steve works horses all year round at his home in Geraldine, NZ, and can be booked for starting your horse under saddle or working with problems. Due to demand, bookings need to be made at least 4 months in advance.
